It’s been 41 years since we sent the first email. A lot has changed since then. As of 2015, there are 2.91 billion internet users worldwide and counting. Those 2.91 billion people are browsing an estimated 252 million registered domains.
This is one of them.
For the last seven years I’ve been thoroughly re-imagining what is possible in this world. You see, I had this idea in my head of what my life would look like. When I graduated from college, I would go into the financial services industry where I would serve my clients well and earn a comfortable living for the rest of my life. I would meet a nice lady and we would settle down. We would have a couple of kids and they would grow up in much the same way that I did: running around outside with their friends, camping, skiing, playing team sports, going to summer camp, generally enjoying school, and preparing themselves for the type of life that I have been blessed with. That was my plan in 2007.
Then, everything happened. I met the right people in the right places and as a result, I completely shifted my focus. An awareness grew up within me and it forced me to re-imagine how the world is, and what it might look like for future generations. That’s what this blog is about. Intergenerational Justice.
We’re all alive right now for a very important reason. There is a higher calling for our generation and it starts with the recognition that our children’s world will be fundamentally different from the one we grew up in. The magnitude and direction of the difference is entirely up to us.
